LYNNWOOD – The Snohomish High School boys swim team started off the new season with a splash.
The Panthers used their depth and experience to breeze past Edmonds-Woodway 102-66 Thursday in a non-conference meet.
“This was a team effort, I’m proud of these kids,” Snohomish head coach Rob Serviss said of his team’s season opener.
Snohomish placed first in eight of the 11 events, picked up seven second-place finishes and five third places. The Panthers were led by sophomore Nick Hryciuk, who won both the 200 individual medley and the 100 breaststroke.
“Nick stepped up and swam well today and our depth definitely helped us propel in this meet,” Serviss said.
Snohomish senior Chris Fulton swam a Class 4A state-qualifying time in the 100 freestyle, finishing in 49.40 seconds.
“We’re looking forward to facing powerhouse Mercer Island,” Serviss said of today’s meet.
In the Panthers’ other meet Thursday, they took advantage of just two Mountlake Terrace swimmers for a 119-9 victory.
