Landon Ferraro named captain

A bit of late-breaking news today as Landon Ferraro was named captain for the 2010-11 season. Ferraro, a 19-year-old center, becomes the eighth captain in franchise history. He replaces the graduated Zack Dailey, who was Everett’s captain the past two seasons.
This is an interesting choice, considering Ferraro has been a Silvertip for less than two months, having arrived from Red Deer via trade in late July. But that being said, Ferraro seems to have integrated himself into the team seamlessly, and though he had little experience in Everett, he has plenty of experience around the league. I’m sure he’ll do a fine job.
The other part of the equation is there wasn’t an obvious choice for captain among the returning players, at least not anymore. The leading candidate from last season’s team would have been Byron Froese, but he was sent to Red Deer in the deal that brought Ferraro to Everett (in fact, Froese, was named an alternate captain for the Rebels).
The alternate captains are forwards Clayton Cumiskey and Kellan Tochkin, and defensemen Rasmus Rissanen and Ryan Murray.
