SEDRO-WOOLLEY — Stanwood had a chance to win the game late in the fourth quarter, but fell to Sedro-Woolley 14-13 in the nonconference game. The Spartans put together an 80-yard drive late to score a touchdown, and instead of going for the tie with a kick, opted for the two-point conversion, and came up short.
“We called a timeout (after the touchdown), and asked the guys what they wanted to do, and they said, ‘Go for it,'” said Stanwood head coach Aaron Cupp after the loss. “The guys played real hard.”
Stanwood Quarterback Kyle Strachan led the Spartans, hitting on 12 of 19 passes for 198 yards and rushed the ball 11 times for 59 yards. Free safety Kyle Bennett racked up 14 tackles. Middle linebacker Ryan Randall had 16 tackles of his own in the middle of the defense.
