Prep Roundup: Archbishop Murphy gets 13-1 softball win over Cedarcrest

DUVALL — Archbishop Murphy and Cedarcrest met up Monday evening in a critical softball match that would determine sole possession of second place in the Cascade Conference. Despite the implications, it was a lopsided affair as Murphy defeated Cedarcrest 13-1 in five innings.

Amber Manuel allowed just one run on three hits while striking out 10 Red Wolves as she went the distance for the Wildcats. Meanwhile it was a cast of Marea Homes, Anna Whitehouse and Maddy Huggins carrying the offense for Archbishop Murphy as they combined to go 9-for-10 with six runs and four RBI.

“(Manuel) had pretty good control today,” said Cedarcrest head coach Les Collins. “It was a pretty close game until the fourth when Murphy started hitting the ball really well.”
