BOYS BASKETBALL

Cleveland Heights (Ohio) 75, Everett 70

PHOENIX, Ariz. — The Tigers topped the Seagulls in the first round of the Cactus Jam tournament.

Everett’s Isaiah White led the team with a game-high 30 points while Ty Bloomfield added 20 and Sam Lawless 12.

The Seagulls led 32-30 at halftime but only scored six points in the third quarter. The Tigers took advantage and put up 27 points, taking a 57-38 lead going into the fourth quarter. Everett made a nice recovery scoring 32 points with baskets by White and Bloomfield, but it was too little too late as Cleveland Heights’ 18 points were enough to outlast Everett.

Competing in the boys “cactus” division, Everett faces Olympia, also from Washington state, in the consolation bracket tomorrow at 9 a.m.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Shorewood 51, Christian (California) 21

SAN DIEGO, Calif. — The Stormrays ran through the Patriots in the first round of the Surf ‘N Slam tournament.

Shorewood’s Maya Glasser and Ella Emanuel scored eight points each along with Vanessa Spadafora and Bridget Cox who contributed seven points a piece, creating a well-rounded attack.

Competing in the girls “slam” division, Shorewood faces Union tomorrow in the semifinals at 3 p.m.

Non-League

Meadowdale 74, Hazen 63

HAZEN — The Mavericks downed the Highlanders in a non-league match.

Meadowdale’s Mia Brockmeyer led the team with a game-high 37 points, tallying seven 3-pointers, and teammate Gia Powell put up 22 points, four of them being 3-pointers.

Meadowdale (9-2) trailed by five points at the end of the first quarter but gained a two-point lead at halftime; that lead then extended even more at the conclusion of the third quarter, 56-44. But with 19 points for the Highlanders to the Mavericks’ 18, it still wasn’t enough for Hazen (4-6) to end the night with a win at home.

Dakota Nap led the Highlanders with a game-high 29 points, and Makenna Garrett scored 22.

Bothell 60, Kamiak 44

BOTHELL — The Cougars handled the Knights in non-league game.

For Kamiak (5-4), Zia-Daye Anderson scored 13 points, Bella Hasan 12 and Vivian Mawudeku 10.

For Bothell (8-2), Charlotte Lipkin carded 18 points with teammates McKylee Hawkins and Makenzie Kooy adding 11 and 10, respectively.

Emerald Ridge 44, Glacier Peak 25

GLACIER PEAK — The Jaguars downed the Grizzlies in a non-league match.

Glacier Peak’s Rikki Miller scored seven points, Marley Macris contributed six and Kate Fowler four.

For Emerald Ridge, Naomi Senato and Jaryah McGriff led the team with nine points each; Semaj Williams tallied seven points and Naleila Cammack six.

Glacier Peak trailed the entire game losing 37-10 at the end of the third quarter.

The Grizzlies decline to 2-7 overall and face a difficult Meadowdale opponent at home on Jan. 2.

Lake Stevens 78, Mt. Rainier 40

LAKE STEVENS — The Vikings beat the Rams in a non-league match.

Lake Stevens’ Nisa Ellis scored a game-high 21 points with teammates Tessa Anastasi carding 18 and Noelani Tupua 15.

Lake Stevens improved to 7-2 overall, and Mt. Rainer dropped to 3-5.

Oak Harbor 50, Marysville Getchell 34

MARYSVILLE — The Wildcats topped the Chargers in a non-league match.

MG’s Fran’shay Wright and Emme Witter each scored nine points.

Oak Harbor improved to 5-4 overall, and Marysville Getchell dropped to 2-6.

Mountlake Terrace 48, Ingraham 40

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — Jordan Wagner scored 13 of her game-high 17 points in the second half as the Hawks pulled away for a non-league win over the Rams.

Jordyn Stokes added 13 points, including 11 in the second quarter, and Hurley Schmidt chipped eight — all in the second half — for Mountlake Terrace (2-8). The Hawks outscored the Rams 26-18 over the final two periods to break a tie at halftime.

Avery Meyer led Ingraham (2-5) with 15 points.

Lake City (Idaho) 58, King’s 46
