The Seahawks made free-agent signings to add depth to both their offensive and defensive lines Monday, inking tackle Bradley Sowell and defensive tackle Sealver Siliga. Sowell was signed away from the Arizona Cardinals, while Siliga was signed away from the New England Patriots. They are the first free agents Seattle signed away from other teams this offseason.
These are reportedly both low-budget one-year deals:
#Seahawks and former #AZCardinals OT Bradley Sowell agreed to terms on a 1-year, $1.5m deal, source said.

I’m told DT Sealver Siliga has agreed to terms with the #Seahawks on a 1-year deal worth $1.4M max. 250K guaranteed.

There’s a reason for the low dollar amounts. Sowell (6-7, 316), a four-year veteran, appeared in all 16 games with Arizona last season, but didn’t start a single one, and he hasn’t started a game since 2013. Siliga (6-3, 200), who also has played four years — including part of 2013 on Seattle’s practice squad — started four of the 13 games he played in last season with New England. Both were undrafted free agents, Sowell out of Mississippi and Siliga out of Utah.
One has to think the signing of Sowell provides some insight into Seattle’s hopes of re-signing tackle Russell Okung. While I wouldn’t go as far as to say Sowell was signed specifically to be Okung’s replacement, it sure seems an indication the Seahawks have serious concern about their ability to bring Okung back.
Siliga will likely compete with Jordan Hill to take Brandon Mebane’s spot in the starting lineup. Mebane left to sign with the San Diego Chargers.
