An undefeated Sehome team looms on the horizon for both teams, but it’s unlikely either squad is looking past tonight’s Snohomish at Mountlake Terrace boys basketball game.
Both teams have won their first three division crossover contests and are 6-0 overall.
Both teams have dominated their opponents. Snohomish, which cracked the century mark with 101 points vs. Monroe and is averaging 84 points per game, has an average margin of victory of 25 points. The Panthers’ closest call was a five-point, 67-62 victory over Lynden. Mountlake Terrace, the defending Western Conference 4A champion, has an average margin of victory of 17 points. The Hawks’ closest call was an eight-point, 56-48 victory over Marysville-Pilchuck.
Both teams rolled over their only common opponent, Monroe – Terrace by 17 (71-54), Snohomish by 30 (10-1-71).
In a Wesco 4A girls showdown tonight, once-beaten Kamiak (1-1 in league, 3-1 overall) plays at once-beaten Marysville-Pilchuck (3-0, 7-1).
In a Wesco 3A wrestling meet tonight, unbeaten Lake Stevens (2-0) travels to Arlington (1-0, 1-1).
Once school is out after today’s classes, the rest of the pre-Christmas week provides the opportunity for some neighborhood get-togethers. On Wednesday, Cascade is at Everett for a boys-girls basketball doubleheader. Meanwhile, the Mariner boys cross over to the east side of I-5 to play Jackson, while the Lakewood wrestlers cross over to the west side to take on Marysville-Pilchuck.
On Thursday, the Lakewood wrestlers, along with Darrington, are at their other north county neighbor, Arlington.
Events taper off as the holiday nears, but Friday the Kamiak boys basketball team entertains Eastlake in what could be a preview of a bi-district playoff later in the season.
