Early in the week, Pete Carroll mentioned that turnovers were a problem for his team, and they have cost the Trojans big in this game. The Huskies first touchdown came after a fumble at the USC 14, and their second came on a Mesphin Forrester interception. That has allowed the Huskies to stay in the game despite being outgained 268 to 124.
Locker leads the Huskies with 49 rushing yards on 11 carries. Passing, he is seven for 14 for 48 yards and an interception. Louis Rankin has six carries for 14 yards.
Again, run defense and big plays have to be a concern for Washington. Stafon Johnson has 77 rushing yards on six carries, including a 45 yarder, and Chauncey Washington has 74 on nine carries, including a 53-yard run. USC has 159 rushing yards.
Can the Huskies avoid the third-quarter letdown that has cost them in their last two losses? We’re about to find out.
