Motorcyclist dies after his Harley hits guardrail

ARLINGTON — A motorcyclist died Friday night when he rode a 1999 Harley-Davidson off the road and into a guardrail, the Washington State Patrol reported. He was wearing a helmet.

The motorcycle was totaled. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the rider as Dale D. Whitehall, 44, of Snohomish.

The accident occurred about 10:30 p.m. as Whitehall rode south in the 19700 block of Smokey Point Boulevard west of Arlington.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.

  • Armed robbers strike: Police are looking for three suspects in connection with an attempted armed robbery that took place at 7:02 p.m. Saturday.

    The victims were a young couple living at an apartment in the 7100 block of 47th Avenue SE, said officer Michael Ingram. The victims answered a knock at their door and let in two men and a woman. One of the visitors was known to the victims, Ingram said.

    Once in the apartment, one of the visitors revealed a shotgun and pointed it at the male resident. The suspects were interrupted by the victims’ relatives, who arrived unexpectedly. They left the apartment and fled in a vehicle, Ingram said.

    Police believe it was an attempted robbery and are looking for the three suspects, Ingram said. No one was hurt.
