For sake of justice, vote for Dwyer

In the important election contest for judge of the Washington State Court of Appeals, Snohomish County Superior Judge Steve Dwyer recently received the important endorsement of retired Washington State Supreme Court Justice Charles Z. Smith.

In 1965, Charles Z. Smith became the first African-American to serve as a judge in our state when he was appointed to the Seattle Municipal Court bench. In 1988, Judge Smith became the first – and still only – person of color to serve as a justice on the Washington State Supreme Court.

Justice Smith’s endorsement sends a clear message to those of us who vote, at least in part, based on concerns of racial equality and economic justice. Our votes will go to Judge Steve Dwyer for the Washington State Court of Appeals.
