Marysville: Merging car spins, semi hits it
A Marysville man was seriously injured Thursday morning after his car spun out on I-5 and was broadsided by a semi-truck.
The man, 21, was southbound on the freeway just south of Fourth Street when he and the driver of a Dodge pickup truck attempted to merge into the same lane, Washington State Patrol trooper Kirk Rudeen said.
The pickup clipped the rear of the man’s Chevy Camaro, spinning it around and shooting it across all four lanes of the freeway.
The Camaro slammed into a concrete barrier, bounced back into traffic and was hit by a southbound semi-truck, Rudeen said.
The man was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he was in serious condition Thursday, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
No one else reported injuries, according to the State Patrol. The accident remains under investigation.
