50 years ago (1957)

Myrtle Plautz Megis, one of the lead singers in “Hansel and Gretel” last year, a longtime choir singer in Everett churches and guest soloist at the Gold Star Mother’s state convention in Spokane this year, would be one of the featured vocalists when Music in the Bowl was presented at Forest Park.

25 years ago (1982)

Several local shooters became state champions at the first-ever State Hunter Pistol Tournament hosted by the Marysville Rifle Club. Some of the winners were Carl Martin Jr. and Carl Martin III of Arlington, Clyde Austin and Neal Mix of Marysville, and Larry Hazen of Snohomish. The top woman was Judi Hillis of Arlington.

Bowling had brought back the gold quarter Monday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Evergreen Bowl, 5111 Claremont, and Glacier Lanes, 9630 Evergreen Way. Games and soft drinks were just 25 cents each.
