Local briefly: Woman badly hurt in Everett car accident

EVERETT — A traffic collision Thursday sent an Everett woman, 25, to the hospital with “very serious” injuries, Everett police said.
The crash occurred about 11:30 at the intersection of 19th Street and Rainier Avenue, Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said.
The woman was driving a blue Ford Taurus south on Rainier and was apparently struck by a white Dodge pickup truck driven by a 48-year-old Everett man, Goetz said.
The woman was taken to Providence Everett Medical Center, he said. The man wasn’t injured.
Traffic was diverted as police examined the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
Police find nothing after gunshot reports
Police scoured the area of the 11300 block of 19th Avenue near Silver Lake early Thursday after neighbors called in reports of gunshots in the area, officials said.
At least five officers arrived in the area just before 5 a.m., Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said. Officers returned to area in daylight to continue to search for evidence of gunshots. None was found, he said.
“No one has reported damage or bullet holes,” he said.

Monroe: SWAT team gets man to surrender
A police SWAT team spent more than two hours Wednesday night trying to take a Monroe man, 27, into custody, officials said.
Police surrounded a home in the 13300 block of Summit Avenue at about 7:18 p.m. looking for a suspect who had violated a restraining order, Monroe police spokeswoman Debbie Willis said.
The man was armed and threatening to harm himself, she said. The man refused to come out of the house and police heard a gunshot.
Negotiators were able to talk the man into coming out by 9:42 p.m., Willis said.
No one was hurt.
The man was taken to the hospital for evaluation and was later booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of felony harassment, first-degree malicious mischief.
