FYI: Help fill Double Tall bus with food

Published 11:00 pm Friday, November 9, 2007

Community Transit has paired with Northwest Harvest for a food drive today.

The double-decker bus, The Double Tall, has provided commuters with an entertaining ride since it went into service in August. Today, it’s on a parked mission.

The Double Tall is the area’s largest food collection bin from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at Fred Meyer, 4616 196th St. SW in Lynnwood.

Besides getting a close look at the bus, those who attend the event can pick up a mini double decker bus in exchange for a donation. Those who donate 10 cans or more will get two tickets to the 32nd annual World Championship Ice Racing season opener to be held Dec. 8 at Comcast Arena at Everett Events Center.

Community Transit’s super hero — Oxy Gene, the defender of truth, justice and really clean air — will be on hand, and attendees can enjoy food samples from Delimex and New Cascade Ice Organics.

Food collected at Fred Meyer

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Explorers Post is holding a food drive from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at Fred Meyer, 12906 Bothell-Everett Highway in Everett.

Items collected will go to St. Vincent De Paul.
