MARYSVILLE — A man riding a stolen motorcycle led police on a high-speed chase down the Centennial Trail on Tuesday morning.

Walkers and bicyclists were forced to dodge the fleeing motorcycle as it raced along the trail at more than 60 mph, according to a police affidavit filed Wednesday in Everett District Court.

The suspect, 22, swerved onto the trail near 67th Avenue NE and 172nd Street NE, after a Snohomish County sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop the man for driving without a license plate.

At one point the man reportedly waved at a pedestrian on the trail as he sped by. Several miles later he lost control of the bike, jumped off and ran. Deputies used a stun gun to subdue him.

They found a loaded pistol in his backpack along with suspected methamphetamine and a pipe, police wrote. The pistol had been stolen from an Island County resident. The motorcycle was stolen in Tukwila in September.

The man was released from jail three weeks ago after he was charged with fleeing from police in a stolen car in the Lake Stevens area. He has numerous felony and misdemeanor convictions.

This time he was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of several crimes.

A pickup truck was seen following the motorcycle. Deputies tracked the truck to a motel in Arlington. They attempted to talk to the truck driver, but he ran and was not found.

Police entered the motel room and found drug paraphernalia, according to the police affidavit.
