MARYSVILLE — It was a night off ups and downs for the Marysville-Pilchuck girls basketball team in Wednesday night’s game against Kamiak.

The Tomahawks ripped off a an 11-point lead in the first quarter — and lost it all in third — before storming back in the fourth quarter for a 67-52 non-conference victory.

Marysville-Pilchuck junior center Britt Harris ripped down 17 rebounds and scored 24 points in the win.

“That’s three huge games she’s had for us,” M-P head coach Julie Martin said of Harris.

Shaelei Lucas chipped in 16 points and eight rebounds for the Tomahawks. Julia Church led Kamiak with 12 points.

“We came out soft in the third, and they forced a lot of turnovers,” Martin said.

M-P also fell into foul trouble in the third period, with both Jessica Masters and Anna West having to sit for periods of time.

Kamiak couldn’t sustain its comeback in the fourth period, and M-P outscored the Knights 26-12.

“Kamiak played very well,” Martin said. “We worked the ball around … it was a total team effort.”
