Meadowdale doubles up on Shorecrest, 70-35

SHORELINE — A 10-0 opening run set the pace for the Meadowdale girls basketball team on Friday night as the Mavericks cruised to a 70-35 Wesco South win over Shorecrest.

“We started off fast,” said Meadowdale head coach Dan Taylor. “We forced them to have a lot of turnovers at the start.”

At the end of the first quarter, Meadowdale led 22-7.

“It was one of those games that was solid throughout,” said Taylor.

Senior guard Eryn Jones scored 23 points for the Mavericks, including five 3-pointers, and junior Hanna Fjortoft added 18 points and two 3’s.

Shorecrest’s Gloria Tseng scored 15 points.

Lake Stevens 59, Cascade 41: At Lake Stevens, the Vikings used a 20-point third quarter to open what was a close game and defeat the Bruins in the Wesco North contest.

“We had a lot of easy stuff in the first half, we just didn’t convert,” Lake Stevens coach Mark Hein said.

Stephanie Schumacher had all 14 of her points in the second half for Lake Stevens, and Karri Gallagher had 20 points. Brittany Tri had 11 points and 10 rebounds and Alona Personius had seven assists for Lake Stevens.

Danielle Love had 13 points for Cascade.
