MONROE — Mario Gomez broke the 1-1 tie at three minutes into overtime to give Cascade the Wesco North 2-1 victory over Monroe at Snohomish Veterans Memorial Stadium on Tuesday.

More importantly, the win clinched a 4A District 1 playoff berth for Cascade and placed them back in a first-place tie with Marysville-Pilchuck in the Wesco North.

“I want to give Monroe credit,” said Cascade coach Daghan Kesim. “They’ve played good soccer and made the Wesco North more fun to play in.”
