SNOHOMISH — Marysville-Pilchuck is getting used to close contests.
M-P edged Snohomish 73-72 to take first place Thursday in a Wesco North meet at Snohomish High School. It was the exact same slim margin of victory the boys team posted over Snohomish. Monroe placed third with 44 points.
“Both those schools are two of the biggest in the state,” Monroe coach Dave Brekke said, whose team was missing several athletes due to scheduling conflicts. “No excuses, they were operating under the same (difficulties).”
M-P won the 400- and 800-meter relays and Nicolette Runyan won the 100 in a time of 13.11 seconds.
Jessica Yates won the long jump and handily won the triple jump with a distance of 38 feet, 6.5 inches to pace Snohomish.
