Arlington: City sets drug information night
David Chitwood from the Snohomish Regional Drug Task Force plans to talk about drug awareness and prevention at a special informational meeting set for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Byrnes Performing Arts Center, 18821 Crown Ridge Blvd., Arlington.
Chitwood will give a 30-minute presentation examining methamphetamine and the dangers of drug use. The detective plans to provide tips and information on signs and symptoms that could indicate drug use by teenagers.

Pilots will take children on free flights Saturday
Pilots at the Arlington Airport will offer free flights for children ages 7 to 18 years old Saturday as part of Airport Appreciation Day.
There will also be an aircraft display, chances to tour police and fire vehicles, face painting and more.
Children should register for flights between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. The event will last from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Arlington Airport at 18204 59th Dr. NE in Arlington. Flight schedules will be subject to the weather.

Darrington: Ambulance association welcomes volunteers
Darrington Volunteer Ambulance Association meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday at 1115 Seeman St.
The association needs more volunteers and invites those who are interested in serving to attend the meeting.

Marysville: City seeks volunteers for beautification day
The city of Marysville invites the public to volunteer for the third annual Community Pride Day from 9 a.m. to noon May 17.
Volunteers and city staff will plant flowers in several parks and on other city property.
The city has purchased 282 flats of flowers for the event. Volunteers and city staff plan to meet at 9 a.m. at Ebey Waterfront Park, 1404 First St., then break into smaller groups to start planting.
Volunteers are asked to bring gloves, small hand trowels and kneepads or something to kneel on.

Warm Beach: Christian author Philip Yancey to speak
Renowned Christian author Philip Yancey is scheduled to speak at Warm Beach Camp and Conference Center May 30 through June 1.
Yancey is the author of books including “Where is God when it hurts?” and “The Gift of Pain.”
He will be the keynote speaker at the camp’s Potter’s Wheel Retreat for Spiritual Formation.
