PREP ROUNDUP: Olympia ousts Marysville-Pilchuck from state baseball tournament

TACOMA — Marysville-Pilchuck’s season is over.
Olympia scored seven runs in the third inning and starting pitcher Adam Conley pitched a complete game to defeat Marysville-Pilchuck 10-2 Saturday in a 4A regional playoff game at Heidelberg Park in Tacoma.
M-P (15-8) was led by senior Riley Gilbertson, who batted 3-for-3 with two runs batted in and a double. M-P relief pitcher Tyler Holm entered in the third and held Olympia scoreless in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
Conley struck out four batters and only allowed six hits on his way to the win for Olympia (22-2). Kramer Skidmore batted 3-for-3 with two RBI.

3A District 1 meet: At Arlington, Alena Owen of Shorecrest defeated defending champion Julie Mills of Everett to take second place in singles. Owen earned a state tournament berth with her 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) victory. Mills will be the alternate to state.

1A Tri-district meet: At Shoreline, King’s rolled to team victories in both the boys and girls competitions. Coupeville’s Kyle (4:25.13) and Tyler King (4:33.08) finished 1-2 in the 1,600 and 3,200. Coupeville’s Brian Miller took the high jump at 6 feet, 1 inch and also placed first in the javelin. In the girls competition, Olivia Thomas of King’s won the 800 and 1,600.

1B Bi-district meet: At Shoreline, Myisha Valentine of North Sound Christian won three events to lead her school to the team title. Valentine won the 100-, 200- and 400-meter dashes. Teammate Lynn Washio won the 800 and 1,600 as North Sound accumulated 103 points to edge Lopez Island by five. Lopez won the boys team title, topping Clallam Bay by more than 40 points.

Boys soccer
Todd Beamer 1, Shorewood 0 (shootout): At Shoreline, something had to give in the 4A quarterfinal state playoff game at Shoreline Stadium. After 90 minutes of scoreless soccer, Beamer (13-5-2) prevailed 15-14 in a shootout that took 17 penalty kicks. The 30-minute battle between Shorewood (16-2-1) goalkeeper Dorian Lair and Todd Beamer goalkeeper Ben Draeger remained tied, until Draeger dove to his left to block Ansel Koehler’s kick and John Drayer booted a shot in the upper right corner of the goal off Lair’s fingertips.
Cedarcrest 1, Mark Morris 0 (shootout): At Tumwater, Cedarcrest’s Josh Long recorded a shutout and Cedarcrest advanced to the semifinals of the 2A state championships. Cedarcrest will play Sehome in Sumner on Friday.
