PREP BASEBALL: 11 nominated for all-state game

SNOHOMISH — Eleven Western Conference players were nominated for the all-state baseball series following a 12-inning Class 4A/3A feeder game Wednesday at Snohomish High School.

Game manager Scott Knight said he expects five to seven will be selected to play in the all-state series June 7-8 at Parker Field in Yakima.

Top performers in the contest included pitcher/designated hitter Chris Gordon of Lynnwood, who batted 3-for-4 with a triple and a run batted in; pitcher Frankie Nelson of Marysville-Pilchuck, who batted 2-for-3 with two RBI, and outfielder Travis Cuykendall of Snohomish, who batted 2-for-3 with a double.

Others nominated included, pitcher/outfielder Aaron West, pitcher/outfielder Derek Jones and pitcher/outfielder/designated hitter Ethan Hargrave of 4A state champion Snohomish; pitcher/outfielder Ian Parmley of Monroe; catcher Doug Joyce of Stanwood; catcher Brice Herrick of Everett; second baseman Mike Gange of Marysville-Pilchuck and pitcher/infielder Travis Rush of Mariner.
