Prep soccer: Lake Stevens goes 7-0

STANWOOD — The Lake Stevens girls soccer team remained undefeated and in sole possession of first place in the Wesco North Tuesday as it handed second-place Stanwood its second loss of the season with a 3-1 victory.

Kaleen Berg opened the scoring in the fourth minute, connecting off an assist from Desi Nickell. Berg added her second goal of the game in the 47th minute off an assist from Taryn Wright. Kinslee Isaman capped the scoring in the 70th minute off an assist from Annie Thomas.

“It was a real solid team effort tonight,” Lake Stevens coach Andy Knutson said. “Stanwood is having a really good year. We feel fortunate to get out of there with the win.”

Kalina Eveland scored the lone goal for the Spartans, who fell to 4-2-1 in Wesco North play and overall. Lake Stevens is 7-0.

Everett 3, Monroe 1: At Everett, Suzy Olsen scored two goals and Brittany McMullen added one as the Seagulls (5-1-1 league and overall) won the Wesco North soccer contest. Alyssa Drew scored for the Bearcats (2-3-2).

Marysville-Pilchuck 3, Snohomish 2: At Marysville, Laina Weber scored the game-winning goal in the 77th minute as the Tomahawks (1-5-1 league and overall) recorded their first Wesco North win of the season against Snohomish (2-5). Mady Schoonover and Leslie James added goals and Danielle Norton added two assists for M-P. Grace Nelson and Melanie Bjornethun scored goals for the Panthers.

Cascade 3, Oak Harbor 0: At Oak Harbor, Sam Munger scored two goals and teammate Talyn Miller added a goal and an assist leading Cascade (3-4-1 in league and overall) to the Wesco North win over Oak Harbor (1-6-0).

Shorecrest 3, Mountlake Terrace 1: At Shoreline, Jessica Rankin and Emily Adams each had a goal and Rachel Schrote added a goal and an assist for Shorecrest in the non-conference game. Caroline Towles and Kayla Obrycki split time in goal for Shorecrest (4-1-2). Anna Walters had the lone goal for Mountlake Terrace (0-7) and Amy Deller was in goal for the Hawks.

Edmonds-Woodway 3, Glacier Peak 2: At Edmonds, Jackie Vandermeer scored the game-winner in the 80th minute of the non-league game at Edmonds District Stadium. Carlin Huegli assisted on a goal by Kyanna Justice and scored an unassisted goal for E-W (4-2-1 overall). Samantha Long assisted on a goal by Malloy Leahy and Brooke Gilbert scored in the 65th minute to tie it 2-2 for Glacier Peak (3-3-1). Justine Ponton was in goal for E-W. Nicole Giovine was her counterpart for Glacier Peak.

Kamiak 5, Mariner 0: At Everett, Hillary Hermes, Hailey Tharp, Rachel Simmons, Carly Thomson and Kari Schoeffling scored goals as the Knights (2-3-2 overall) defeated the Marauders (0-6-1) in a non-league game.

Shorewood 5, Lynnwood 0: At Lynnwood, the Thunderbirds defeated the Royals in a non-league game. No other details were reported.

Cedarcrest 10, Coupeville 0: At Duvall, Maggie Pleis scored a hat trick (three goals), Rachael Kevin scored twice, and Laura Hisler, Haley Clapp, Clare O’Donnell, Emily Druschba and Brooke Chapman each scored a goal as Cedarcrest won a Cascade Conference game against Coupeville (1-5 in league and overall). Jordan Cleman was in goal for the Red Wolves (4-2).

Granite Falls 2, King’s 1: At Granite Falls, Kaitlan Howell scored two goals as the Tigers (3-3 league, 5-3 overall) dealt the Knights (4-1, 6-1) their first loss of the season in the Cascade Conference game.

Lakewood 7, Sultan 1: At Marysville, Alisha Stott netted four goals, Anna Work had two and Erin Dierickx added one goal and two assists to lead Lakewood (2-4 league, 3-5 overall) to the Cascade Conference win. Rici Morrill scored the lone goal for Sultan (0-5, 0-7). Miranda Head and Work spent time in goal for the Cougars while Krystal Novak and Emily Dir shared goalkeeper duties for Sultan.

Archbishop Murphy 9, South Whidbey 1: At Everett, Brittany Allen scored three goals and Melissa von der Hofen, Sam Street, Elyse Ulowetz, Lindsey Bos and Ally Beck added goals as the Wildcats (6-0 league, 7-0-1 overall) bested the Falcons (3-3 league and overall). Karissa Thomas scored South Whidbey’s lone goal.

Boys soccer

Lopez Island 3, Grace Academy 0: At Marysville, Sebastian Lasbo, Charlie O’Neil and William Carson scored goals as the Lobos defeated the Eagles (0-1 league, 2-6 overall) in the Northwest 1B game.
