RENTON — One day after saying that Arizona Cardinals safety Adrian Wilson should get fined for a helmet-to-helmet hit, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck amended his comment and added a word of apology.

“I probably owe (the Cardinals) an apology,” Hasselbeck said on Monday. “I think they played hard, I think they played physical, and I think they played within the rules and with class. So I regret saying that. In fact, I hope nobody gets fined.”

Hasselbeck made the comment after Sunday’s game, referring to a hit he took from Wilson in the second quarter. He said Monday that he wasn’t feeling like himself after the game.

“It probably wasn’t the right time for me to talk in front of a microphone,” Hasselbeck said Monday. “I probably needed a couple hours and a nap.

“It’s hard to come in and answer questions. And again, I regret what I said about the fine thing.”
