Few players contribute as much to their team as Audrey Murphy, a senior center on the Granite Falls girls basketball team. Through six games this season Murphy is averaging 19.7 points, 8.2 rebounds, 4.8 steals and one assist per game. She has helped Granite Falls start with a 3-3 record.
Murphy has long arms and is an energetic leader, Granite Falls girls basketball coach Mark Neuman said. Her shot selection has improved this season and she is shooting 49 percent from the field, Neuman said.
Murphy scored a game-high 17 points Dec. 12 in the Tigers’ 48-42 win versus King’s. She also tallied seven rebounds and five steals in the contest.
Granite Falls had not defeated King’s since Jan. 26, 1999, said Neuman. “It’s a big win for us. It doesn’t make or break the season for us,” he said, “but it puts us in the right direction.”
