MT. VERNON — The Everett girls basketball team kept its state tournament hopes alive Friday by defeating Sedro-Woolley 55-39 in a loser-out 3A District 1 playoff game.

Everett head coach John Low said Everett held a rebounding advantage in the second half to help take the victory. Alex MacCormac led Everett with 14 points.

Vashon Island 42, King’s 35: At Mountlake Terrace, Vashon Island jumped out to an 18-9 lead at the end of the first quarter. King’s played Vashon tough the rest of the way and cut it to 37-33 with 53 seconds remaining, but was unable to complete the comeback. King’s takes the third seed from the Tri-district playoffs into the 1A state tournament.
