MUKILTEO — Kamiak out-performed Meadowdale and was rewarded with a spot in the 4A District 1 playoffs.
Clayton Dubin scored in the 30th and 58th minutes for the Knights (6-0-0 league, 8-5-0 overall) in a 2-0 Wesco South win Tuesday night at Kamiak High School.
Dubin opened the scoring 10 minutes before halftime after gathering a Tyler Hawkinson cross from the right side and putting the ball in the net from about 8 yards out, according to Kamiak head coach Garfield Scott.
Scott said Kamiak “kinda got off to a slow start,” but picked up the pace in the second half. “All credit to the lads for stepping it up,” Scott said.
Kamiak goalkeeper Caleb Smith earned the shutout. “He came off the line pretty quickly and dealt with them,” Scott said.
Collin Harris was in goal for Meadowdale (3-3-0, 5-8-0).
Shorecrest 1, Glacier Peak 0: At Snohomish, Musie Ghebremichael scored for Shorecrest off an Eli Blauser assist in a Wesco South match. Ghebremichael’s goal came in the 55th minute. Eric Baker earned the shutout for Shorecrest (6-0 league, 12-1 overall). Glacier Peak’s (0-4-2, 4-7-2) keeper was not reported.
Mariner 1, Lynnwood 0: At Edmonds, Jakub Rynkiewicz scored the game-winning goal with eight minutes remaining to play off a Bello Ibrahim assist to lead Mariner to the Wesco South win. Tony Curullo notched the shutout for the Marauders (1-5 in league, 2-11 overall), while Emiliano Suarez stood in goal for Lynnwood (0-6, 0-13).
Edmonds-Woodway 3, Mountlake Terrace 2: At Lynnwood, Max Doolittle and Abede Hehn scored late goals to help Edmonds-Woodway to a Wesco South win. Jonathan Alvarez scored twice in the first 15 minutes for Mountlake Terrace (3-2-1 league, 6-5-2 overall). Dylan O’Day and Levi Suryan assisted on Alvarez’s goals. Ben Wilmot scored in the first half for E-W (2-2-2, 6-5-2) before the two late goals sealed the win. Ben Winters was the goalkeeper for Terrace, and Nick Kratzke was in goal for E-W.
Jackson 1, Shorewood 1 (2 OT): At Shoreline, Alex Taylor scored in the 17th minute for Jackson off a Devin Mendiola assist. Eric Hodel was the goalkeeper for Jackson (3-1-2 in league, 9-2-2 overall). Dorian Lair was Shorewood’s goalkeeper. The Thunderbirds’ (1-2-3, 7-2-4) goal was scored by Ansel Kholer in the 45th minute.
Monroe 4, Everett 0: At Everett, thanks to early goals by Mitchell Garino and Mitchell Balk — both of which came off assists by Austin Cohn — Monroe was able to clinch a 4A District 1 playoff berth. “It’s a huge feat for this program,” Bearcats head coach Ryan Schaeffer said. Drew Hopkins and Moises Velasco also had goals for Monroe (9-4 in league and overall) while Miles Garman recorded his second shutout of the season in goal. Everett’s (2-11) goalkeeper was Jesus Yao.
Cascade 2, Oak Harbor 0: At Oak Harbor, Gerardo Martinez-Alfaro scored a goal off a Reid Jones assist and then Jones himself had a goal to lead Cascade to the Wesco North win. Oscar Taren recorded the shutout for the Bruins (6-8 in league and overall). The goalkeeper for Oak Harbor (5-8) was not reported.
Lake Stevens 7, Stanwood 0: At Stanwood, Zach Muth (Scotty DeOliveira assist) kicked off the scoring for Lake Stevens in the second minute. Zach Wagner (Johnny Hollaway assist) scored in the seventh minute, Hollaway (DeOliveira assist) scored in the 10th minute, Vasily Bogdanoff (Muth assist) scored in the 11th minute, Jake Orwiler (Wagner assist) scored in the 38th minute, Victor Nelson (Mark Russel assist) scored in the 43rd minute and Muth (Wagner assist) also scored the final goal in the 44th minute. Michael Pierce was Lake Stevens’ (8-5-0 league, 8-5-0 overall) goalkeeper, while Nate Schoen was in goal for Stanwood (1-12-1, 1-12-1).
South Whidbey 2, Granite Falls 1: At Granite Falls, Dino Michaelides scored both South Whidbey goals — both off assists from Jeff Crasko — to lead the Falcons to the Cascade Conference win over Granite Falls (1-11, 2-12). Keegan Harshman and Ian Marsanyi split time in goal for South Whidbey (3-9 in league, 4-10 overall).
Cedarcrest 1, Archbishop Murphy 0: At Duvall, Cory Johnson scored on a rebound off a blocked shot in the 39th minute for Cedarcrest in a Cascade Conference match. Cedarcrest’s (8-3 league, 9-3 overall) goalkeeper was Colin McHargue. Doug Ehlebracht was in goal for Archbishop Murphy (9-3, 10-4).
Lakewood 1, Coupeville 0: At Lakewood, Grant Bacus scored off a Craig Hooks corner kick for Lakewood in the fifth minute of a Cascade Conference win. James Hoback earned the clean sheet in goal for Lakewood (6-6 league, 8-6 overall). Coupeville’s (5-7, 7-7) goalkeeper was Evan Ameluxen-Coleman.
King’s 1, Sultan 0: At Shoreline, Trevor Bartels (Brett Simons assist) scored the only goal of the Cascade Conference game for King’s in the 78th minute. Aaron VanGorkem was in goal for King’s (10-3-0 league, 10-3-0 overall). Sultan’s (6-6-0, 7-6-1) goalkeeper was not reported.
