PREP VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Kamiak remains unbeaten

MUKILTEO — Bryce Larson had 10 kills and Jazlyn Anderson’s serving helped Kamiak cruise to a 3-0 non-conference win over Oak Harbor Thursday night at Kamiak High School.

Larson’s kills and five service aces and setter Ally Bowles’ 17 assists sent the Knights (3-0 overall) to a 25-14, 25-16, 25-11 win.

Anderson, a senior defensive specialist, kept the Wildcats (2-1) on their heels with strong services.

“Jazlyn served incredible,” second-year Kamiak head coach Natalie Bowie said. “She was just solid and fabulous.”

Oak Harbor stayed close in the opening points, but Kamiak ended up overpowering the Knights in the straight-set win.

“My (Kamiak) girls played really well,” Bowie said. “They communicated really well, they played a little more consistent than they have in the first few games.”

Monroe 3, Mariner 0: At Everett, Megan Birch had 11 kills and Melina Seabrook had 10 digs, aiding Monroe’s 25-9, 25-14, 25-16 non-conference shutout to remain undefeated at 4-0. Mariner fell to 0-4.

Edmonds-Woodway 3, Marysville-Pilchuck 0: At Edmonds, the Warriors 25-19, 25-23, 25-20 shutout win came with help from Ashley Kelly-Norling’s 15 kills, Leigh Fishback’s 28 assists and four kills and Haley Scott’s 11 kills and nine digs to keep the Warriors undefeated at 3-0. For M-P (1-3) Mikayla La Rosa had 11 kills, Riley Taitingfong had 25 assists and three blocks and Alisha Oden had six kills and three blocks.

Jackson 3, Stanwood 0: At Mill Creek, Leigh-Ann Haataja had 11 kills while leading Jackson to the 25-14, 25-17, 25-16 non-conference win over Stanwood (2-2 overall). Emmy Allen (six kills), Malisa Marasigan (13 digs) and Whitney Perkins (20 assists) all helped contribute for the Timberwolves (3-0).

Mountlake Terrace 3, Cascade 0: At Mountlake Terrace, Stephanie McGee had 20 digs and Christine Jenson added 33 assists to lead Mountlake Terrace to a 25-22, 25-22, 27-25 non-conference win. Cristine Lotz, Liana Samuelson and Stephanie McGrath all had seven kills apiece for Terrace (1-2 overall). Esther No had eight digs, Kaitie Brush had 10 kills and Becca Holtgeerts had eight kills and two aces for Cascade (0-3).

Everett 3, Glacier Peak 0: At Snohomish, Emily Liger had 17 kills and 17 digs, Molly Burton had eight kills, eight digs and three aces, Mackenzie Banta had 19 assists and Annie Inghram had 11 assists to lead Everett (2-2) to the 25-22, 25-19, 25-14 victory. Glacier Peak’s (1-2) Olivia VanDlac had seven kills and Taylor Rasmussen had eight digs.

Shorecrest 3, Snohomish 0: At Shoreline, Nicole Swenson had 10 kills and two blocks, Marina Stoermer had eight kills and Casey Axelson had 27 assists, propelling Shorecrest (5-0 overall) past Snohomish in the non-conference match. Snohomish’s (0-3) Maddi Fouts and Megan Rice each had 11 kills, and Karla Nelson had 20 assists.

Shorewood 3, Arlington 0: At Shoreline, Shorewood won in straight sets 25-23, 25-18, 25-15. Hannah Stoeve had five kills and eight blocks; Carolyn Stransky had five kills, 13 assists, three aces, and 10 digs; Molly Whipple had 12 assists, and Maddie Welsh had eight kills to improve the Thunderbirds’ record to 2-2. Amanda Bottini had 15 digs and Kirstin Wright had 10 digs to lead Arlington (0-4).

South Whidbey 3, Sultan 0: At Langley, Linden Firethorne had eight kills, Alisson Wood had eight kills and eight aces and Kelsie Dorpat had 15 assists to lead South Whidbey (3-0 league and overall to the 25-11, 25-21, 25-14 Cascade Conference win over Sultan (0-3, 0-3).

King’s 3, Coupeville 0: At Coupeville, Dionna Kirton had 11 kills, Anna Cesari had 20 assists and three aces and Alison McConnaughey added five kills and three aces to lead King’s (3-0 in league and overall) to the 25-18, 25-11, 25-15 Cascade Conference win. Jessica Riddle had six kills and two aces to lead Coupeville (1-2, 2-2).

Shoreline Christian 3, Friday Harbor 0: At Shoreline, Shoreline Christian remained undefeated (2-0 league, 3-0 overall) behind Amber Visser’s 25 assists, Maria Anderson’s 18-for-19 serving and Laura Kredit’s 16 kills en route to the Northwest 1A/2B shutout.

Darrington 3, Orcas Island 2: At Eastsound, after trailing 10-14 in the final set, Darrington closed out the game with six straight points to earn the Northwest 1A/2B win. Jessica Brooks and Hailey Wales had 12 kills apiece for the Loggers, who took an early lead in the match before falling behind 25-19, 11-25, 25-27, 25-12. Caresse Baker added seven kills and 18 digs for Darrington (1-1 in league, 3-1 overall) in the victory over Orcas Island (0-1).
