PREP ROUNDUP: Glacier Peak wins with goal 1 minute into OT

SNOHOMISH — A scoreless game ended rather abruptly in overtime when Glacier Peak’s Jackson Miller scored the lone goal of the game in the first minute for a 1-0 win Wesco South boys soccer win Tuesday at Glacier Peak H.S.

Miller’s goal was set up through some effective passing. The ball was switched from left to right to Kyle Bjornethum, who then sent a nice cross to Miller, who delivered a shot into the lower right corner of the net from about 18 yards out.

“Kamiak was an extremely organized team that gave us a lot of difficulty,” Glacier Peak head coach Shannon Murray said. “Lucky for us we were able to break through in that first minute of overtime.”

Glacier Peak keeper Andrew Weakly finished with three saves. Meanwhile, Caleb Smith was in net for Kamiak, finishing with 12 saves.

Shorecrest 4, Jackson 0: At Shoreline, Glenn Paden recorded his second hat trick in a row and added an assist for Shorecrest in the Wesco South game. Eli Blauser assisted Paden’s last two goals and Joe Schober got the assist on the first one. Michael Harris accounted for the other Scots’ goal. Eric Baker recorded the shutout for Shorecrest (2-0 league, 9-0 overall). Jackson (0-2, 3-6) had Hayden Addington in goal.

Edmonds-Woodway 1, Shorewood 0: At Edmonds, Jeremy Wentzel scored the lone goal of the Wesco South game in the 21st minute off a free kick to lead Edmonds-Woodway to the win. Erik Whitney got the shutout in goal for E-W (2-0 league, 6-2-1 overall). Maxwell Wright and Simon Aspinall split goalkeeping duties for Shorewood (0-2, 4-4-1).

Mariner 4, Meadowdale 0: At Everett, Mariner scored four unanswered goals in the second half for the Wesco South win. Yahir Sandoval (Ali Al-Nassar assist) opened the scoring in the 50th minute for the Marauders (2-0-0 league, 6-3-0 overall). Eddie Tamayo (Miguel Medina assist) scored in the 59th minute and Meadowdale (0-2-0, 1-8-0) knocked in an own goal in the 69th minute. Medina scored Mariner’s final goal in the 73rd minute off a Tamayo assist. Whopper Banuelos earned the shutout in goal for Mariner. Ken Hill took the loss for Meadowdale.

Mountlake Terrace 1, Lynnwood 0: At Bothell, Jonathan Alvarez scored for Mountlake Terrace in the 50th minute. Ben Winters was in goal for the Hawks (1-1-0 league, 2-7-0 overall) and Emiliano Suarez was the goalkeeper for Lynnwood (0-2-0, 1-8-0).

Arlington 2, Everett 1: At Everett, David Lopez (14th minute) and Jake Smith (68th minute) both scored goals for Arlington. Stefan Mueller scored the lone goal for Everett in the 20th minute. Tanner Jelinek was in goal for Everett (2-5-1 league and overall) and Corbin Andersen was in goal for Arlington (5-4-0).

Snohomish 3, Cascade 0: At Snohomish, Snohomish bounced back after a loss to Lake Stevens with a Wesco North win. A 19th-minute own goal off a Carson Pingrey corner kick gave Snohomish a 1-0 lead and Travis Olsen (Mackenzie Nutt assist) and Spencer Helfrich (Nick Wright assist) scored goals for the Panthers (7-2-1 league, 7-2-1 overall). Cody Melander earned the shutout for Snohomish. Cascade fell to 2-7-0, 2-7-0.

Monroe 3, Oak Harbor 1: At Monroe, Jack Fortune set the tone for the Bearcats (3-3-2 league and overall) with his first-half goal in the 27th minute (Andrew Barrett assist). Barrett then followed Fortune’s goal with one of his own, in the 33rd minute on a Fortune assist. In the second half, Monroe’s Arthur Pham added a late goal in the 71st minute (Jose Garibay assist) to make it 3-0. Oak Harbor’s lone goal came on a free kick in the 80th minute from Ryan Fakkema. Jose Perez Jr. was in the net for Monroe and Tucker Lundstrom was the keeper for Oak Harbor (0-9).

Archbishop Murphy 10, Granite Falls 0: At Granite Falls, Eric Schmidt and Jason Houts each scored two goals for Archbishop Murphy (6-2-0 league and overall) as it overwhelmed Granite Falls (0-8, 1-9-0). Jake Flanigan, Tyler Mayerchek, Riley Raynor, Sean Ryan, Jamie Steinman and Alexsis Magana all had one goal apiece for the Wildcats. Doug Ehlebracht and Jordan Trinka were in goal for Murphy, each working a half while Adrian Galle minded the net for Granite Falls.

Cedarcrest 2, Sultan 0: At Sultan, Nick Minaglia (Ben Toler assist) scored in the 60th minute and Thomas O’Donell (Toler assist) added a second goal in the 71st minute in a Cascade Conference win for the Red Wolves (5-3-0 league, 5-5-0 overall). Clayton Knoles took the loss in goal for Sultan (3-5-0, 3-7-0). Colin McHargue earned the clean sheet for Cedarcrest.

Lakewood 3, S. Whidbey 1: At Marysville, Lakewood earned a hard-fought Cascade Conference win behind goals from Joseph Hawkins (Josue Rivera assist), Brandon Ochoa and Kevin Marroquin (Mason Brisben assist). South Whidbey tied it up at one on a goal by Pat Myatt but Lakewood pulled away in the second half. In goal for Lakewood was Sam Johnston. Karl Peterson was the keeper for the Falcons.

King’s 6, Coupeville 0: At Shoreline, Trevor Bartels had a hat trick to help the King’s Knights improve to 6-2 in the Cascade Conference. Bartel’s goals came in the fourth minute (Jacob Hauser assist), sixth minute (Nick Swanson assist) and in the 35th minute (Gunnar Ildhuso assist). Additional goals came from Ildhuso in the 18th minute on an assist from James Guhlke, Swanson in the 29th minute (Hauser assist) and from Isaac Nilsen in the 77th minute (Jake Hibbard assist). The goalkeeper for King’s was Matt Matysik.

Bothell 3, Redmond 0: At Bothell, Shane Lervold kept Redmond off the board and Bothell cruised to a win in 4A KingCo action. Russell Kilgannon (Ryan Schroeder assist), Yordan Rivera (Mauricio Aguilar assist) and Alberto Valle (Schroeder assist) all scored for Bothell (3-2 league, 5-2-2 overall).
