BOTHELL — A sinkhole in Bothell was apparently caused by a tunnel for the new King County sewage treatment plant under construction in Woodinville.

KOMO reports the county is waiting on a permit to fill the sinkhole which is in a wooded area. Another sinkhole blamed on tunneling opened in 2009 under a driveway in Kenmore.

The $2 billion sewer plant will pump treated water through the 13-mile tunnel to the outfall in Puget Sound near Edmonds.
