Getchell coaches named

The Marysville School District has announced hirings for several of the fall sports positions at Marysville Getchell High School, which will conduct its inaugural interscholastic athletic competitions in the 2011-12 school year.
Davis Lura has been named the head coach for the Chargers football program. He comes to Marysville from the Seattle School District where he served as the head coach at West Seattle High School and assisted at Ballard as well as Mountlake Terrace High School. Davis is a Stanwood High School graduate and received his college degree from Central Washington University where he played football.
Wayne Nash has been named the head coach for the Chargers girls soccer program. Nash has co-coached girls soccer at Jefferson High School in Federal Way. Wayne currently serves as a graduation liaison for the Marysville School District and assists with the Cascade High boys soccer program.
Mindy Staudinger has been named the volleyball head coach. Staudinger was an all-conference athlete at Marysville Pilchuck and went on to star at Montana State University. Staudinger has a background as a select team coach.
Robert Sherry moves from MP to become the Chargers boys tennis coach. Sherry teaches social studies in the International School of Communication on the Marysville Getchell Campus.
The cross country position had not filled at this time. The position is currently posted on the Marysville School District website.
The district also announced the hiring of Paul Bartley, a long time soccer coach in the Snohomish County area, to lead the Marysville Pilchuck girls soccer team. Bartley has coached at the high school level for both boys and girls in the Everett and Marysville School Districts for the past several years. He is currently the JV boys coach at Marysville Pilchuck High School.
