Prep boys soccer: Archbishop Murphy 4, Squalicum 3

SHORELINE — Sean Ryan scored Archbishop Murphy’s first goal in the 17th minute of the 2A District 1 playoff game, coming on an assist from Riley Rayner. Steven Briede scored in the 30th minute for the Wildcats on an Alex Kramer assist. Sergio Millan scored eighth and 68th minute goals for Squalicum, and teammate Josh Bramlett added a 76th-minute penalty kick to put his team up 3-2 over Archbishop Murphy. In the 80th minute, Archbishop Murphy’s Alexis Magana scored a goal from the 20-yard line to tie the game up. In stoppage time, Archbishop Murphy’s Kramer scored an 83rd-minute goal, assisted on a long throw-in by Josh Bartley. Squalicum’s Josh Bramlett failed to convert a penalty kick in the 84th minute, which was saved by the Archbishop Murphy keeper Jordan Trinka. Squalicum’s keepers were Morgan Waidelich and Ryan Lowry, who split halves in goal. Archbishop Murphy is now 15-2 overall and will face Bellingham on Tuesday.
