Coastal salmon opens

Marine waters off Westport opened Monday to salmon fishing seven days a week, but the daily limit will remain two salmon, one chinook only. The move was made in response to low fishing effort out of the charter port, perhaps due to poor weather conditions much of the season so far, and/or economic conditions.
Fishing has been good the past several weeks, generally, with checks showing a catch of 1.05 salmon per rod last week, about equally split between coho and chinook.
Neah Bay was best of the coastal ports, at 1.43 fish per rod when pinks were included.
