Derby contestant wins $5,000

Lake Stevens resident Mike Claymore won $5,000 in the ongoing Ucluelet, B.C., Salmon Derby for the largest fish in the month of July, a fine chinook of 37 pounds, 10 ounces. Claymore also qualified for the derby finals, to be held later this summer. Mike’s father, Fred Claymore, said his son intends to fish the finals, that he’s an experienced salmon fisherman and fishes there every year.
