Pink run idling at Port Angeles

I’ve talked with several people about the state’s pink salmon run today, most notably Herald Outdoor writer Wayne Kruse.
He’s hearing the same things that I’ve heard: that people expected to see more humpies in Snohomish County’s saltwater areas and rivers than they’ve seen so far.
Several guides have told us both that they’ve been working closer to Seattle and even further south in Puget Sound to catch pinks because they’re still sparse here.
That said, there have been a few going into the Snohomish and Skagit rivers.
Wayne said he’s talked with people in the know who say a large number of pinks are still hanging around the Port Angeles area and are expected to be showing up soon.
Check Heraldnet.com or the newspaper version of The Herald for Wayne’s column on Thursday for more of the skinny on what’s happening with the pink run.
It looks like the fish are here, just not in large numbers yet.
