Let’s play some bridge

Who wants to go first? A temporary span across the Skagit River was expected to be open to traffic this morning, the first time I-5 has been fully open to traffic since a truck struck the bridge causing its collapse on May 23. There are a few limitations for the interim bridge. The speed limit is 40 miles per hour, and oversized loads will have to detour around the bridge.

One new feature: On either side of the bridge, motorists can stop and choose from a selection of items to soothe nerves as they cross: Xanax, prayer beads or a rabbit’s foot.

Googly eyes: Google has asked a federal court to ease the National Security Agency’s gag order, saying it has a First Amendment right to speak about the information it’s asked to provide.

While it’s at it, the court could also ask Google to use its First Amendment right to explain to customers how it’s using their search histories for targeted advertising.

Don’t know much about history: On this day in 1952, the game show “I’ve Got A Secret,” in which a celebrity panel would question a contestant about his or her “secret,” made its debut on CBS-TV.

The Game Show Network has announced plans to bring back a new version of the game show, “Not Anymore, You Don’t,” in which contestants will guess what the NSA already knows about them.
