Functionally silly

If the suit fits: A Bothell man has filed an initiative petition that would designate I-5’s “functionally obsolete” bridge over the Skagit River as the Tim Eyman Memorial Bridge, a shot at some of Eyman’s initiatives that have eased taxes but reduced funding for transportation programs in the state. Eyman attacked the proposal as “silly.”

You know, “silly,” like dressing up as a gorilla, an orange-clad inmate or Darth Vader to promote your own initiatives.

Don’t forget the fuzzy dice: Everett Community College’s Aviation Maintenance Technician School accepted a Boeing 727 donated by FedEx that will provides students hands-on training.

But first things first. The plane will be have to be outfitted with a decent sound system, including amplifier and subwoofers, and some underbody LED light strips.

Better wash that down with some sweet tea: Chick-fil-A has submitted plans to the city of Lynnwood for the chain’s first Washington state store. The chicken sandwich chain is known for an advertising campaign that features cows holding signs advising, “Eat Mor Chikin.’”

Judging by the sodium content in a Chick-fil-A Spicy Chicken Sandwich Deluxe — 1,750 milligrams — the sandwiches are popular with cattle because they double as a salt lick.

Correction: An earlier version of this column misstated the measurement of sodium in the Chick-fil-A Spicy Chicken Sandwich Deluxe. The measurement should have been stated in milligrams. It is now correct. And just as salty.
