PORT ANGELES — The Nippon Paper Industries mill at Port Angeles expects to have a stalled wood-waste boiler operating by November.

The biomass co-generation plant will produce steam for the mill and electricity for sale to buyers of green energy.

The Peninsula Daily News reported the $85 million project was expected to be completed a year ago but cracks were discovered in a boiler that had to be repaired.

The mill has about 200 workers and produces paper for telephone books as well as newsprint for the Port Angeles newspaper.
