Eagle once caught on Whidbey Navy base spotted in Vancouver, B.C.

A bald eagle that was captured at Naval Air Station Whidbey in 2012 was spotted recently in Vancouver, B.C.

The eagle was captured as part of a bird strike hazard program. It was released 150 miles south of the base.

The eagle is still wearing a band on its leg, which made it possible to identify the bird. It was spotted during an eagle count.

“According to Dane Ledbetter, a U.S. Department of Agriculture wildlife biologist at the air station, this eagle was one of the very first banded aboard the air base through a permit from U.S. Fish &Wildlife Service. The capture and release program helps keep both eagles and aircraft safe from one another,” according to a news release from the base.
