Former Everett man who robbed banks in 4 states gets 6½ years

TACOMA — Federal prosecutors say a former Everett man who admitted robbing 10 banks across the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Utah has been sentenced to 6 ½ years in prison.

U.S. District Judge Benjamin Settle of Tacoma told 42-year-old Anthony Martinis on Monday that the memory of such a traumatic event stays with bank tellers for the rest of their lives.

Martinis was arrested last November in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The robberies began in September 2014 at a Longview, Washington, credit union. Other cities hit included Yakima, Lacey, Milton and Vancouver in Washington, as well as Eugene, Salem and Cottage Grove in Oregon.

Also robbed was a US Bank branch in Boise, Idaho, and a credit union in Roy, Utah.

The man was ordered to pay more than $17,000 in restitution.
