Hunter education courses run throughout the summer, and now is the time to enroll in a course to avoid the autumn rush.
State Department of Fish and Wildlife Hunter Education Division manager David Whipple said, “As fall hunting seasons draw nearer, these courses fill quicklly. Hunters who complete the course this summer will be ready to take to the field in the fall.”
All prospective Washington hunters born after Jan. 1, 1972, are required to show proof of hunter education course completion before purchasing their first hunting license. The state offers both traditional and online options to complete the hunter education training requirement.
To find a course and learn about hunter ed requirements, new hunters should visit the Department of Fish and Wildlife hunter education webpage at http://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/huntered/classes/basic.php.
