POULSBO — Sophia Viviano secured Shorecrest’s win in its 2A state tournament opener against North Kitsap with two goals.

The first one tied the game at two and the second one came in the 76th minute to break a 1-1 tie that had been in place for 20 minutes.

North Kitsap had gained the lead towards the end of the first half, when Mary Moraity scored off a free kick, the first of her two goals of the night.

Despite the slow start head coach Mindy Dalziel is grateful for the win, but knows that the Scots can still improve.

“We really need to make sure that we take care of the ball better,” Dalziel said. “We need to play a complete game.”

With all three goals coming in the second half Dalziel was happy when the Scots were on the board.

“We just took awhile to find the back of the net,” she said.

Shorecrest will move on to play Ridgefield in quarterfinal round.
