The recount for the contest for a position on the Lynnwood City Council is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday at the Snohomish County Elections Processing Center, 1818 Pacific Ave., Everett. The recount is open to the public.

The contest from the Nov. 3 general election is subject to a mandatory machine recount because the difference in the candidates, challenger Chris Frizzell and incumbent Benjamin Goodwin, is less than 0.5% of the 5,471 total votes for the two of them and less than 2,000 votes. When the county canvassing board certified results Nov. 24, Goodwin had 2,745 votes to Frizzell’s 2,726.

Unofficial recount results will be posted Thursday afternoon. Results will be certified by the canvassing board Monday, Dec. 7 at 1:30 p.m.
