Ballots in mail for Feb. 9 school district election

Ballots are in the mail for the Feb. 9 special school-district election.
Snohomish County elections officials sent ballots Thursday to all registered voters in Edmonds School District 15 and six other school districts around the county.
The Edmonds School District includes Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, Woodway, unincorporated areas near those communities and part of Brier.
The only item on south Snohomish County ballots is Edmonds School District Proposition 1, which would continue the existing technology-and-capital-improvements levy for four years. It would pay for instructional technology and building system improvements.
The proposition would authorize the district to collect between 56 cents and 59 cents per $1,000 of assessed valuation on all property in the district.
The measure can pass with a simple majority.
Ballot drop boxes near the Edmonds Library, in front of the Lynnwood City Hall and at 10 other sites around the county have been open since Jan. 8, when officials mailed ballots to military and overseas voters.
New Washington voters may register through Feb. 1, but they must register in person at the county auditor’s office in Everett.
The last day to update an existing registration or to register online or by mail was Jan. 11.
Registered Edmonds School District voters who don’t get ballots by Wednesday, Jan. 27, should call the Snohomish County Elections office at 425-388-3444.
Voters may return completed ballots through a ballot drop box or through the mail. Mailed ballots must be postmarked by Election Day, Feb. 9. Voters also may return completed ballots postage free to a 24-hour ballot drop box locations at any time until 8 p.m. Election Day.
The drop boxes are near the Edmonds Library, 650 Main St, Edmonds; in front of the Lynnwood City Hall, 19100 44th Ave., Lynnwood; at the Bothell QFC parking lot) 22833 Bothell Everett Hwy, Bothell; at McCollum Park, 600 128th St. S.E., Everett; at the Courthouse Campus in Everett; and at sites in Arlington, Lake Stevens, Marysville, Monroe, Mukilteo, Snohomish and Stanwood.
Voters also may drop completed ballots at the Snohomish County Auditor’s Office Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended hours on Election Day, Tuesday, Feb. 9 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. or vote for on accessible voting units at the auditor’s office through Feb. 9 and at the Lynnwood Library Monday, Feb. 8, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Election Day, Tuesday, Feb. 9 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
