The EvergreenHealth Monroe Foundation plans to host its annual Blue Jeans &Boots Gala on Sept. 10 at Pine Creek Nursery, 23225 Sofie Road in Monroe. Proceeds will help pay for a new 3D tomosynthetic mammography unit to help detect breast cancer in its earliest stages. Reservations must be made by Aug. 31. Tickets are $75 per person, $250 for a patron ticket, $500 for a benefactor ticket and $750 for table sponsorship. Update on Fales Road: Plans for a new fire station on Fales Road east of Clearview are ongoing. Permits are expected to take up to six months, with construction tentatively planned for spring 2017, after a period for public comment, according to the website for Snohomish County Fire District 7.
Volunteer with Lynnwood police: The Lynnwood Police Department is recruiting volunteers for Citizens Patrol. The group works closely with officers on safety-related issues in the city, including traffic control. Volunteers are asked to commit to eight hours a month. A background check is required.
