Edmonds-Woodway football player Ali Gaye has been attracting a lot of attention from some big-name college programs over the past year.
Gaye, a 6-foot-5, 240-pound defensive lineman, has offers from 16 schools in hand, Warriors coach John Gradwohl said.
Gaye is scheduled to visit Arizona State, Louisville and Mississippi this month. He’s already visited the Washington, Washington State and Southern California.
“He wants to go to (other parts of the country) to see what it’s like, what the schools are like,” Gradwohl said. “He’ll meet the kids and the staff, see if these schools are a fit for him or not. He’s a mature young man, and he’s smart enough to weigh all of his options. I just want him to end up in a place where he can have success and have fun and be glad he went there.”
Gaye, a three-star prospect according to scout.com, was a first-team All-Wesco 3A South selection and first-team Herald All-Area pick in 2016. He registered 76 tackles, 21 quarterback hurries and eight sacks.
