The Everett bowling team is having another successful campaign. A season after finishing second at the Class 2A/3A state tournament, the Seagulls are in second place in Wesco with an 8-2 record (10-2 overall).

“We were strong last year, but we’re strong in different ways this year,” Everett coach Marjorie Bovey said. “One of the reasons I knew they were going to be successful is because the core group of the team returned. The (top) rules of bowling are to have fun and make sure you want to be there, and that describes everyone on this team. They’ve done a good job of initiating team bonding and building relationships and encouraging each other. They rely on each other.”

The Seagulls’ top bowler, JoJo Durr, embodies those concepts. Durr, whose average is in the low-to-mid-180s this season, is a three-time state tournament participant.

“She’s been the anchor,” Bovey said. “She’s incredibly supportive to other team members. She’s got a strong sense of perseverance. She helps teammates set goals and accomplish them. She’s really stepped up.”
