Everett woman helps homeless students

Every year, Rajeswari “Raj” Hariharan collects donations including food, coats, school supplies and gift cards to help homeless students at Madison Elementary School.
“This year while talking to Anne Jensen, a counselor at Woodside Elementary School, Raj asked for some data about homeless children in the district,” said Rachel Allen, teacher’s assistant at Madison Elementary. “What she found out rattled her. The numbers were disturbing. So, instead of her traditional approach of emails and phone calls, she made an appeal on Facebook.”
Donations poured in as a result of Hariharan’s efforts. Donors contributed enough gift cards and items that she was able to extend the support to Lowell and Woodside elementary schools as well.
“We are truly thankful for her generous support and inspired by the impact that one person can make in the lives of many students,” Allen said.
