MILL CREEK — Cyena Fryberg, Tulalip Heritage’s 6-foot post, suffered a fractured foot during a practice session last week.

The Hawks definitely felt her absence in their 52-40 loss to Clallam Bay in a 1B state regional loser-out contest Saturday at Jackson High School.

“We really lacked defense,” Tulalip Heritage coach Cyrus Fryberg said. “Cyena gives us so much defensively, and (her loss) was too much to overcome. Offensively, we had too many turnovers to come close (to winning). We had no rhythm on offense and we couldn’t get in the right sets.”

Keryn Parks led the Hawks (20-6) with 15 points.

Tulalip Heritage tied for the Northwest 1B League regular-season championship and won two of three games in the 1B District 1/2/3 tournament to qualify for the state regional round.
