Jackson teen takes top award at jazz fest

Connor Conan, from Jackson High School, took one of the top two spots at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, held last month at the University of Idaho.

Conan was named the festival’s Outstanding Vocal Soloist. The honor comes with a $1,500 scholarship to the University of Idaho.

Unathi Machyo, an Edmonds-Woodway High School student, was a finalist in the same category.
